New Collins Waterpark Finally Opens This Week!

Collins, Mississippi – Monday, April 30, 2007 – What began two years ago, as what many considered a good idea, becomes a reality this Saturday when Grand Paradise Waterpark finally opens it’s doors to the public for the first time. With only a few days remaining, the staff and management at Grand Paradise hurry to make their final preparations for what is sure to be a fun filled, exciting day for everyone.

No one knows that better than the Nearly 300 people who attended a private event labeled “Media Day” this past Saturday. The Crowd consisted of media representatives from area newspapers, television and radio stations as well as local and state dignitaries. The event was organized to give a first glimpse of what South Mississippi can expect from the park when it opens. It was also an opportunity to give the staff and facilities a trial run. The crowd was treated to free food and plenty of aquatic excitement as they took advantage of short lines, something that is not expected next Saturday.

Opening day will coincide with the Annual Okatoma Festival which is already expected to bring thousands to the City of Collins. Beginning May 5th, the Waterpark will open Saturdays from 10am until 6pm and Sundays from 12 Noon until 6pm. Beginning May 19th, the Grand Paradise will be open Monday thru Saturday from 10am until 6pm and Sunday from 12 noon until 6pm.

New Billboards were installed Monday to mark the entrance to the Waterpark from Highway 49, next to Best Western Hotel, and additional work continues to the parking lot which will be located behind the Waterpark and Cedars Restaurant.
